Operating Instructions for Adaware SE and Spybot Search & Destroy.

Adaware SE

Click the DOWNLOAD NOW link and save the file to your Desktop. When the download completes, go to the desktop and double click the downloaded file. Install the software.

To use the software:

Establish an Internet Connection. Open Ad-aware SE. You should get a message "Your definitions are xx days old. Do you want to check for updates?" Follow instructions to check for and download updates. If no message, select "Check for updates" and follow instructions.

NEXT. Adaware will scan your system and show the progress. When scan completes, click next. You will be shown a list of items under "scanning results." You can select each list by clicking on the name. Under "Scan Summary" it will list the number of items found in each category. To remove everything in a category, click in the box to the left of the category. It is our experience with more than 400 computers, that you can remove ALL of the items that Adaware SE finds. When finished, close the program.

Spybot Search & Destroy

To use the software:

Establish an Internet Connection. Open Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4. Select "Search for Updates." If you get a list of updates, check the ones that you want to download. Select DOWNLOAD UPDATES. The updates will download and install. Then select Search and Destroy on the top left, then select "Check for Problems."

NEXT. Spybot will scan your system and show the progress. When scan completes, you will have a list of items that were found. Right Click on an item and click Select All. Then select Fix Selected Problems, top center. Close SPYBOT.

These programs may give you a message "Could not remove all items, can 'program' start the next time you boot?" If you see this message choose YES and re-boot your computer. The program will run again to remove remaining items.
